Welcome to ISB Glasgow!

2015 was a very special year for Glasgow, Scotland to host the 25th Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB), which is the first time for the United Kingdom. It was held on July 12 to 16 at Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC). It was also celebrated alongside the 50th Birthday of the Bioengineering Unit within the BME department here at Strathclyde in which we also welcome the members of the “Strathclyde Mafia”.

The ISB Glasgow 2015 was organized by Professor Philip Rowe, Dr. Phil Riches, and Dr. Andrew J. Murphy, all from the University of Strathclyde. One of our personal objectives during this congress was to promote the growing relationship between biomechanics and motor control. These subject matters were featured in our unusual keynote speeches that aimed to spark conversation and debate throughout the Congress.

Our pairs of keynotes speakers provided essential information in widening the understanding of motor control and biomechanics. Some of the most trusted researchers and scientists in the field of biomechanics were Carlo De Luca, Dario Farina, Laurence Cheze, Claudia Mazza, Gert-Peter Brüggemann, Sharon Dixon, Georg Bergmann, Jonathan Jeffers, Peter Walker, Mark Taylor, Gerard Ateshian, Hazel Screen, Saeed Shirazi-Adl and Jude Meakin. They discussed about Motor Control, Measurement Technology, Sport, Hip Biomechanics, Knee Biomechanics, Tissue Biomechanics, and Spine Biomechanics, among others.

The 25th Congress was a huge success being an effective outlet for scientists and researchers across the globe to share and expand our understanding with biomechanics. Now, the International Society of Biomechanics has continued traveling the world with its mission of spreading knowledge about science and biomechanics.

Now, being part of the golden history of International Society of Biomechanics, we continue in providing knowledge and promoting understanding of biomechanics with our website. We are one with ISB in encouraging and helping groups in conducting meetings, conferences, fairs and festivals that celebrate biomechanics. Through this digital platform, we hope to create awareness of the importance of biomechanics in various applications in human life.
